Tapestry needles are cross-stitch embroidery needles with a large eye and a blunt tip. These needles are particularly suitable for needlepoint, petit point, cross-stitch, and embroidery on canvas or plastic canvas. Thanks to their blunt tip, the needle glides smoothly through the fabric.
Larger sizes, size 16 and below, can be used for sewing knitted projects or crochet work in addition to embroidery and are sometimes called "darning needles". Due to the blunt tip, these larger sizes are also ideal for children.
For cross-stitch, finer needles are generally used, such as sizes 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, and 28. The blunt, rounded tip allows the needle to easily glide between the fabric and the thread without splitting or damaging the fibers.
